In 2022 Ukrainian PM Denys Shmyhal stated

that Ukraine will need at least $565 billion

for post-war restoration

Today some estimates speak already of $1000 billion or simply put 

ONE TRILLION US DOLLAR

As a matter of fact nobody can really say today for sure 

However best practice projections are made by various experts

Ukraine - Third Rapid Damage and Needs Assessment

(RDNA5)

for the period 02/2022 to 12/2025 speaks of

$195 bln total damages, $666 bln socioeconomic losses and 

$588 bln required for recovery & reconstruction

Whatever the true financial cost will really actually be is not so important

if results are good and justify the investments

The war with its immense hardships and destruction 

in the end might provide 

Ukraine with the best chance

to truly reform and modernize

the state, the economy and the society

 Destroyed, old and outdated assets need to be replaced by new,

latest state-of-the-art modern equipment, construction and infrastructure

The Government of Ukraine

in 2022 established four (4) special restoration funds

They prioritise

Infrastructure,

Economic Transformation,

Small and Medium Business, and

Ukraine’s International Financial Obligations

It is clear that Ukraine can expect long-term support

The USA, the EU as well as many other countries

including international institutions provide aid to Ukraine

They require positive reforms and make plans and preparations

for the post-war reconstruction and modernization of Ukraine

Since January 2023 the EU-G7 international donor platform is at work to coordinate

the different support for Ukraine including the goal to control reconstruction

investments combine with necessray reforms to G7 standards and expectations

TWT Ukraine is open and looking forward to support and participate

in any sensible recovery, reconstruction and modernization effort

National public opinion on Ukraine’s recovery potential has been optimistic.

64% of Ukrainians believe that Ukraine will need

less than 5 years to restore the damage caused by war, 

Western Ukraine and young people being the most confident
